In compliance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (Qld) and our Children and Youth Risk Management Policy, the UQLS is required to ensure that all volunteers who assist it in carrying out activities involving children hold a valid blue card, and that this blue card is linked to the UQLS.

If you have been directed to this page by a member of the UQLS executive, it is because you are required to hold a valid blue card linked to the UQLS to engage in one of our initiatives as a volunteer. If you are not sure whether you require a blue card linked with the UQLS, please contact the Secretary at secretary@uqls.com in the first instance.

Primarily, the information on this page guides you through the process of how to either:

  1. Apply for a volunteer/student blue card through the UQLS; or

  2. Link your existing volunteer/student blue card to the UQLS.

If you require assistance with renewing or delinking your blue card through the UQLS, see the information on this page in the first instance. If you have any further questions, please contact the Secretary at secretary@uqls.com. You should also contact the Secretary for any questions about our blue card processes more generally.

Delinking and/or renewing blue cards linked to the UQLS

Renewal (online): If you have been notified by Blue Card Services that your blue card is due to expire, then provided you renew your blue card on time, the link to the UQLS will carry over to your renewed card. You can renew your blue card on this website. Most renewal applications are processed within 5 business days. You can contact Blue Card Services if you require an update on the status of your application. So long as you submit your renewal application before the expiry of your current card, you may continue working with children while your renewal application is in progress.

Delinking (online): If you require your blue card to be delinked from the UQLS, contact the Secretary at secretary@uqls.com

Paper-based applications

Moving forward, and unless the circumstances are exceptional, the UQLS will no longer process applications for a blue card through the UQLS or to link an existing blue card with the UQLS or to renew a blue card through the UQLS using the paper based forms. Any questions should be directed to the Secretary at secretary@uqls.com.
