Welcome to UQLS Social 2008 from your social convenors Gus Graham and Winnie Van. This year, UQLS Social promises to be bigger, bolder and better than ever. So get ready for a wild year ahead because in 2008, the bar is calling!

After four weeks of deservered holidays and in anticipation of 13 weeks of undeserved study-induced boredom, everyone should be fired up for another semester of UQLS social goodness. Here’s what you all have to look forward to over the coming months!
Tri Uni Trivia Night - Thursday 4 September - Chalk Hotel
UQ, QUT and Griffith law students battle it on in a fun night of trivia. For the record, we expect our teams to win. For details, see Tri Uni Trivia Tournament - Thursday 4 September
Law Bands Night - September - Red Room
Take in a night of quality music by law students and be amazed at how incredibly talented your peers are. You might get to make out with a musician!
UQ/QUT Rugby Grudge Match - Saturday 27 September - Venue TBC
Cheer on the UQ rugby team as we trash QUT in the annual grudge match. Astute observers regularly laud the game as among the finest played by law students in Brisbane each year. This followed by end of term drinks and the chance to meet your rugby heroes.
Law Dinner - Friday 17 October - Victoria Park Function Venue
This black tie, sit-down dinner event features fine food and quality keynote addresses. Speakers at recent Law Dinners include the esteemed journalist Kerry O'Brien, The Hon. Justice Michael Kirby, The Hon. Gough Whitlam and The Hon. Malcolm Fraser.
Final Year Fling - Sunday 16 November - Chalk Hotel
Send off the graduates with a complete lack of style, and celebrate the end of an academic year and the beginning of holidays.
With plenty to choose from and something for everyone, there’s no excuse not to make an appearance at an event this semester. It won’t be the same without you! Stay tuned for more details of our events.

Mallesons Halfway Dinner
A crowd of second, third and fourth years enjoyed a buffet dinner at the Chalk Hotel on Thursday 14 August to celebrate reaching halfway through their law degrees and facing the fact that its too late to quit now!
End of Semester Drinks
Many enjoyed the typical UQLS hospitality at end-of-semester drinks at Birdee Num Num on Sunday 22 June. It was a great way to celebrate the end of exams and to kick off the start of holidays which are far too short!
The UQLS Law Ball was held on Saturday 17 May at the River Stage, City Botanic Gardens. Tickets for this year's 'Follow Alice into Wonderland' Law Ball sold out quicker than hotcakes, and the night was, in a nutshell, AWESOME! The (in)famous UQLS pub crawl kicked off at the RE on the lazy Sunday afternoon of 6 April. The two bus loads of crawlers then ventured on to Chalk, GPO and (after a maccas snack stop,) Birdees. A great afternoon/evening/night was had by the entire smurf-blue-shirted crowd!
End of Term Easter Drinks
A huge crowd of L-Card members came to celebrate the end of four gruelling weeks of classes on Thursday 20 March at the GPO. The night was guaranteed fun courtesy of the UQLS.
L-Card Launch
The 2008 UQLS Social Calendar kicked off with the Annual LCard Launch Party on Thursday 28, February 2008. This year, the Launch Party was held at GPO. As always, the Launch Party was a great way to catch up with friends and meet fellow students from Griffith and QUT. For those who missed out on the Launch Party….NEVER FEAR...there are plenty more opportunities to party it up with the UQLS throughout the year.
