1. What's the go with the L Card?
By purchasing an L Card, you become a member of the UQLS. The card gives you around 80 great deals at pubs/clubs, restaurants, entertainment venues and retail outlets all over Brisbane. It also gives you a discount on your tickets to our awesome events (Launch Party, Law Ball, Pub Crawl, Law Dinner etc). The cost is $10 and the card is valid for a whole year.2. Do I have to be a law student to buy an L Card?
Absolutely not! We encourage law students to join, but most of our members are non-law students.3. I missed out on an L Card at Market Day. How can I buy one now?
We sell L Cards in our office (W227, Forgan Smith Building - near the entrance to the Law Library). There are no set hours, but drop by anytime during the day and it's likely someone will be there. We also sell L Cards at most of our events.4. I'm a first year student and I want to sign up for the first year seminars. How can I do this?
There are sign up sheets up on the board outside of our office (W227, Forgan Smith Building). Choose the day and time you wish to attend, and then simply fill out the details on the sign up sheet.5. How can I find out about UQLS events?
Obviously, this website is the best source of information on our events. We also have a noticeboard outside our office (W227, Forgan Smith Building). If you're a member of the UQLS, we usually send out emails about our major events and special deals. For more info, you can email mail @uqls.com (delete the space).6. I'm a law student and I have a complaint about a particular course or piece of assessment. What can I do about it?
Talk to one of our Education Officers! The Education Officers are in constant contact with staff members and the Law School. Some of the matters they may be able to help you with include -- Law subject timetable clashes
- Assessment-related queries or complaints
- Issues with tutors or lecturers
- General queries about both compulsory and elective courses
7. I'm a law student and I want to get involved in the UQLS Competitions. What are my options and how can I sign up?
The UQLS runs an extensive competitions program. Our competitions include senior and first year mooting competitions, paper presentation, client interviewing, negotiation and witness examination. These are staged throughout the year.Competitions will be advertised well in advance on this website and on our noticeboard. You can generally sign up on sheets that will be on the board outside our office (W227, Forgan Smith).
