Volunteer - Refugee Claimants Support Centre

The Refugee Claimants Support Centre in Windsor is primarily responsible for refugee support and referral service, assisting refugee and asylum seeker claimants as they await decisions regarding their visa status.  We have a client from Uganda who has recently received a negative outcome from the immigration department regarding her application seeking asylum in Australia.  She has appealed the decision and will be appearing before the Refugee Review Tribunal (RRT) in approximately three weeks .  The organisation that represented her previously has dropped the case because they are a not for profit and have limited resources.

We are hoping that an interested law student  would assist this client in drafting a brief for submission to the RRT.  The organisation has all the documentation used for her original submission, yet however needs to be restructured.  If students would like additional information on the case, please contact Jeremy Leonard (Volunteer Coordinator) via   s4152065@student.uq.edu.au   or on 0435 015 262 .
