The UQLS has always been concerned with issues that affect law students.  The newly created role of Equity Officer enables the UQLS Executive to focus more on student equity and to set up initiatives that highlight and raise awareness of health and wellbeing issues affecting law students.

The UQLS is currently exploring the possibility of getting involved in community partnerships that promote relevant health and wellbeing issues. For example, at the moment we are looking into becoming a part of a community outreach program, which would help us to raise awareness among students about relevant issues.

Depression among law students is the main reason for this particular program. The UQLS aims to ensure that students' are aware of this issue and do as much as they can to support students.

ALSA

The Australian Law Students Association (ALSA) also strongly supports students who suffer from depression within law school.  Go to http://www.alsa.net.au/support/depression-in-law-schools for more information.
