The UQLS runs a series of competitions throughout the year that encourage students to develop their practical legal skills, with a focus on oral advocacy and alternative dispute resolution. Participating in the competitions is a great way to get to know your fellow law students, learn about the practical side of the law and to develop your legal research skills.

The winners of each of the senior competitions will represent UQ in their competition at the following ALSA Conference (2010 will be in Adelaide). ALSA representatives are encouraged to take up the opportunity of judging and helping with organisation of their competition in future years.

This year there will be 8 UQLS competitions:

    • Junior Mooting sponsored by Corrs Chambers Westgarth
    • Senior Mooting sponsored by Corrs Chambers Westgarth
    • Paper Presentation Competition sponsored by Mallesons Stephen Jaques
    • Legal Drafting Competition sponsored by Griffith University Legal Practice Centre
    • Trial Advocacy Competition sponsored by Clayton Utz
    • Senior Negotiation Competition sponsored by Clayton Utz
    • Junior Negotiation Competition sponsored by DibbsBarker
    • Client interviewing Competition sponsored by Clayton Utz

NOTE: To compete in any of the competitions, you must hold an L-Card. L-Cards can be purchased any time throughout the year from the UQLS office.
