Lexis Nexis Constitutional Law Moot

The LexisNexis Constitutional Law Moot is held in Canberra each year. This year, the competition will be held from Thursday 30 September until Sunday 3 October. The Honourable Chief Justice French AC will be judging the grand final in the High Court of Australia.

It is a very competitive moot, with universities from all over Australia travelling to compete. Subject matter of the moot is mostly focused on issues in constitutional law.

Last year, the two UQ teams did extremely well. One team won the competition, and the other came third.

Considering these successes, the UQLS, with the generous support of DibbsBarker, will be PARTLY funding 2 teams to compete. This means that the UQLS will be paying the team registration costs, including accomodation. The UQLS will also offer a partial reimbursement for flights. If someone has financial difficulty meeting the cost of the flights, the competitor may apply to the Competitions Director providing reasons they should have a fully funded flight. Applications will be considered by the Competitions Director, the VP (Education and ALSA) and the Equity Officer.

Please note that as this is an external competition, you will need to put in some substantial preparation before the moot once the problem is released. Bearing this in mind, you must be available, at a minimum, for the two weeks before the competition to prepare with your team (including the mid-semester break).

5. Any research experience (apart from assignments)
6. A brief outline of the reason you would like to compete
