trial_advocacy

This year, the Trial Advocacy Competition is sponsored by Clayton Utz.

Trial Advocacy allows aspiring barristers to develop their trial advocacy skills, following the structure of a 'real' trial. Competitors examine two witnesses: one for the prosecution and one for the defence, with the objective being to lead your witness through their testimony and to expose the deficiencies in the story of the witness for the other party. Competitors will also present opening and closing arguments to the judge.

This competition requires a basic knowledge of laws of evidence relating to witness examination, but completion of the course is not required to compete.

BEFORE YOU SIGN ON:

Please note that this year, there will be a limit on the amount of competitors in the competition. Sign on will be closed once twenty (20) people have signed up. This is due to resource constraints, and to ensure the quality of judging and competitors. Please note that if you do sign on, and you drop out before the sign on close date, then you will be banned from all future competitions for 2010.
